Research Interests:

I work on plankton ecophysiology, nutrient and trophodynamics. Current projects include a MDSG funded project studying the ecology of a toxic benthic cyanobacteria Lyngbya (Microseira) spp. that is proliferating on seagrasses (submerged aquatic vegetation) in the Chesapeake Bay. I am also interested in factors that may enhance proliferation and toxin production in cyanobacteria, including both climate change and eutrophication.
