Samantha Schiano

Samantha Schiano is a master’s student in the University of Maryland’s Marine Estuarine Environmental Sciences graduate program. She works with co-advisors Genny Nesslage and Mike Wilberg at Chesapeake Biological Laboratory assessing the impact of alternative harvest control rules (HCRs) on Atlantic menhaden. Samantha will evaluate the impact of HCRs on Atlantic menhaden’s predator, Atlantic striped bass. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in marine biology from Florida Institute of Technology in 2019. As an undergraduate, she investigated the morphology of corals in the Eastern Pacific using 3D modeling. She was also a member of the collegiate lacrosse team during her time at Florida Tech. In her spare time, Samantha loves running, cooking, and drawing.
