Chelsea Fowler

Chelsea Fowler is a master’s student in the Marine Estuarine Environmental Science graduate program at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. She works with her advisor Dr. Louis Plough at Horn Point Laboratory to investigate the efficacy of novel environmental DNA (eDNA) monitoring techniques to generate accurate fish run counts for spawning river herring populations. She’s evaluating how eDNA data compares to traditional fish monitoring data.

Originally from New York, Chelsea has lived and worked all over the world. After receiving a B.S. in marine science from The University of Tampa, she worked for the U.S. Peace Corps in the Philippines as a Coastal Resource Management Specialist. Outside of work, Chelsea loves to travel, write, and pursue new hobbies.
