As a complement to the Maryland Sea Grant 2017 Maryland Shellfish Aquaculture Industry Roundtable, participants were invited from the fields of research, extension, and industry to further discuss ongoing issues for Maryland aquaculture farmers.

Goals of the Workshop

  • To explore the possible expansion of Maryland aquaculture including and beyond oysters.
  • To pair industry workers in need of assistance with researchers hoping to help address issues faced by the industry. 
  • To build innovative teams to apply for funding for expanding and improving aquaculture in Maryland and beyond. 
  • To provide a forum for the discussion and development of aquaculture research ideas.
  • To facilitate of the development of cross-disciplinary aquaculture research teams. 

The workshop included introductory talks, roundtable discussions to help foster collaboration, and concluding remarks. For additional information on the structure of the workshop, please review our agenda.
