New Blog Launched by Maryland Sea Grant, Chesapeake Quarterly

Maryland Sea Grant and Chesapeake Quarterly magazine have created a new blog called On the Bay.

Posts will include short essays, slide shows, podcasts, occasional videos, and frequent reporting on marine and environmental issues.

From time to time we will carry guest-written posts contributed by those with Bay memories to share and by those engaged in studying, managing, or protecting the Chesapeake Bay’s ecosystem. We welcome suggestions; please contact us at communications@mdsg.umd.edu.

Sea Grant Film Explores a Diminishing Smithville

Smithville is a community on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, on the edge of the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. A century ago, Smithville had more than 100 residents. Today, it has four, in two homes: an elderly couple, and one elderly woman and her son, who cares for her.
