Workshop Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of the Sea Grant-NCCOS Hawaiʻi Aquaculture Siting and Sustainability workshop is to build capacity and collaboration among the Sea Grant network, NCCOS, and other coastal-ocean groups in Hawaiʻi working in, or impacted by, aquaculture to help advance sustainable aquaculture through conversations around the creation of digital tools for aquaculture. The main objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Present and explore existing aquaculture siting tools and data resources
  • Build an understanding among participants of diverse perspectives, knowledge, and expertise present at the workshop
  • Introduce methods of co-creation in the context of aquaculture siting tools
  • Identify ways to advance and improve:
    • Existing and future aquaculture siting tools
    • Utilization of co-creation to develop aquaculture siting tools
    • Applicability of aquaculture siting tools for end users
    • Delivery of aquaculture siting tools to end users

Workshop Details

The workshop will be held at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoaʻs Campus Center (2465 Campus Road, Honolulu, HI 96822). Details about the Hawaiʻi workshop registration and agenda to come soon. 

Transportation and Accommodations

On-campus parking is available for those who prefer to drive themselves. Details for on-campus visitor parking can be found here. There are alternative ways to travel to campus too, like the city bus, ride share, or Biki bikes

There are many great hotel options in Honolulu within driving distance from the university. When registering, please indicate whether you will need a hotel, and the workshop team will reach out with further information. 

Lastly, we have limited funds to support inter-island travel. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like support for your travel to the workshop, and the workshop team will reach out with more information.
