1. Selected symbiotic bacteria will be detected, isolated and characterized from marine invertebrates, including corals and sponges from the Red Sea and in the United States, e.g. Puerto Rico and Florida. 2. Isolates will be screened under in vitro conditions for biological activities in collaboration with Israeli colleagues who are working in the Red Sea.
