[Homer 3D] Getting Started

Follow these steps as you work your way through each of my lessons:

  1. Open your favorite text editor or word processor.

  2. For each lesson, type in whatever is in bold.

  3. Save your homepage as ASCII (plain text). The last part of the file name for your homepage must be .html or .htm. If you are using a PC (e.g., Windows), you may only use.htm. The extension is needed so the web browser will knows it is a HTML document. As you will see, other extensions are usually .gif or .jpg for graphics, .wav for sounds and .mpg for movies.

  4. View your homepage with this web browser.

For the first lesson, you need open a second window and use the Open File command from the pull-down menu. Go to where you have saved your homepage and select it. From then on, simply press the Reload button after you have saved new material in your homepage.

By having two windows open, you'll be able to continue to surf through my words of wisdom and see if you can really create a beautiful homepage.

  5. Go back to step 2 (d'uh, unless you've reached my final lesson).
