Red Drum Growth Hormone: Heterologous Production in a Eukaryotic Expression System
In this project, John Trant will focus on the red drum, a fish largely depleted in the wild. He will evaluate several molecular approaches for producing biologically active GH, develop radioimmune assays for the hormone in fish, examine the physiology of GH, and evaluate the ease and effectiveness of oral administration of the hormone in commercial aquaculture.
