Chair of Foodweb Team
Howard Townsend, Ph.D.
Chesapeake Bay Ecosystem Model Specialist
NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office

Maryland Sea Grant solicited nominations for members to serve on the Foodweb Quantitative Ecosystem Team from managers, academics, and other stakeholders in the Chesapeake Bay region.  The team is now complete and in addition to the Chair, team members and their affiliations are listed below.  Each of our Quantitative Ecosystem Teams will also be supported by a Quantitative Support Staff (QSS) position, a PhD-level student whose dissertation topic relates to the focus of the QET. The Team held its first meeting in April and began to analyze a series of key ecosystem issue briefs pertinent to Striped Bass produced by the Striped Bass Species Team. The team has met several times since then and is currently developing research proposals to generate ecosystem based reference points that link critical ecosystem stressors for striped bass, blue crabs, menhaden, and Alosines.
