Quantitative Ecosystem TeamsThe Background and Issue Briefs being developed by the Species Teams provide the essential foundation for the development of performance measures and reference points. If these are to be useful they must acknowledge and integrate metrics that extend from single to multi-species to ecosystem level interactions reflecting non-fisheries factors. Ultimately, these must be useful to managers and practical to implement over time. Development of these new regional tools requires a series of teams that engage a diverse group of fisheries and non-fisheries experts. Four Quantitative Ecosystem Teams (QETs) will support the following areas: Habitat Suitability, Stock Dynamics, Socioeconomics, and Foodweb. Knowledgeable individuals with varied expertise in their areas and interest in linking to fisheries related issues serve as members of these QETs. These teams provide insights and opportunities for extending relevant management actions into the watershed. These teams also work closely with the Species Teams and the chairs of each QET and ST are members of the Fisheries Ecosystem Workgroup. |
