Menhaden Species Team

(click on the Menhaden to learn more about this species)

Maryland Sea Grant solicited nominations for members to serve on the Menhaden Species Team from managers, academics, and other stakeholders in the Chesapeake Bay region.  Following is a list of members of the Menhaden Species Team.  The Menhaden Species Team held its first meeting in early January, 2009 and developed a work plan to produce a series of key ecosystem issue briefs pertinent to Menhaden.  The Menhaden Background and Ecosystem Issue briefs are now complete and can be viewed via the link below.  The QETs are currently developing research proposals to generate the ecosystem based reference points required to target the critical ecosystem stressors identified for menhaden in this set of documents.   Maryland Sea Grant will be pursuing a formal publication of these documents and we request that use of the Menhaden Species Team Background and Issue Briefs be limited to the use of the EBFM project for Chesapeake Bay until this formal publication is available.

Thank you to all of the Menhaden Species Team Members and outside contributors who worked to develop the Menhaden Species Team Background and Issues Briefs!
