Blue Crab Species Team

Maryland Sea Grant solicited nominations for members to serve on the Blue Crab Species Team from managers, academics, and stakeholders in the Chesapeake Bay region.  Following is a list of members of the Blue Crab Team and the Species Support Staff (SSS) for the team, a PhD-level student whose dissertation research focuses on blue crabs.  The Blue Crab Team held its first meeting in early January, 2009 and developed a first iteration of the team's work plan to develop a series of key ecosystem issue briefs pertinent to Blue Crabs.   These briefs are currently being submitted to the MDSG office for editing, packaging  and distribution. The next step will be for the QETs to develop the components of the EBFMPs and generate appropriate reference points based on recommendations from the Blue Crab Team.  The Blue Crab briefs are expected to be completed and distributed in October 2009.
