The Species Teams (STs) work to develop detailed analyses of the characteristics and management requirements of each fishery. Compiled, these analyses, or biological background documents, provide the essential foundation for the development of performance measures and reference points in Ecosystem Based Fishery Management Plans (EBFMPs). Team members represent a number of different communities including academic research scientists, federal and state agencies, and stake holders based on expertise. The chairs of each team are members of the Fisheries Ecosystem Workgroup and STs work closely with the Quantitative Ecosytem Teams (QETs). Once formed all of the STs will work concurrently on their designated species. However, Maryland Sea Grant is initiating the new EBFM planning process with the formation of the Striped Bass Team as a pilot project.
