This report represent a broad synthesis based on direct input from the scientific community, as well as selected resource managers and others, to outline what we know and what we need to know about the impact of contaminants on the Chesapeake Bay.

This report is the result of fruitful discussions at the Toxics Research Synthesis meeting at the Belmont Center near Baltimore, Maryland in December, 1995. The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Effects Committee, which convened the meeting would like to thank the participants for their contributions.
