Drawing on both the precision and the creativity of the human mind, science gives us a special way to unlock the secrets of the Chesapeake. Science explains what was once unexplainable, uncovers what was once unknown.
Using sophisticated instruments or simply an observant eye, we can use the scientific method to track the ebb and flow of energy through the estuary's remarkable ecosystem. We can understand the interactions of the Bay’s many creatures and how human actions may threaten their survival. We can predict how the Bay will respond to change and how we, too, can change to protect the Bay.
