![]() The purpose of HAACP Countdown was to alert the seafood processing industry on strategies to successfully implement the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's mandatory seafood inspection guidelines -- the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point program, which went into effect on December 18, 1997. In addition to the newsletters, the Sea Grant and Cooperation Extension Service programs of North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland are offering HAACP courses. FDA recognizes these courses as the standard for compliance with the training requirement of the HAACP regulation. The bimonthly issues of this newsletter during 1997 will keep you informed of developments in training and sources of information. The newsletters highlight steps processors can take to prepare for HACCP inspection.
