Looking for a new group of enthusiastic, fun science professionals to learn from and share ideas related to marine and aquatic science education? Look no further, MAMEA is the organization that can help you become more acquainted with topics in marine education and a network of professionals that are "connected".
The Mid-Atlantic Marine Education Association (MAMEA) is an organization of people whose common goal is to improve education about all aspects of marine and aquatic environments. Members come from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, the District of Columbia, and beyond and come from many organizations and programs. MAMEA is a regional chapter of the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA). MAMEA is easy to join and welcomes new members (it is inexpensive too, just $10 annually). MAMEA holds an annual conference in the Fall and mini-conferences during the year within specific States. In addition, there are mini-grant opportunities offered each year and awards given by the association to formal and informal educators. In the past few years the organization has become more goal oriented and is really making strides to become a more effective organization for it's members and collaborators.
So check it out and go to www.mamea.org. Hope to see you as a new member at the conference in the Fall.
