Taking Marine Education
By Storm!

National Marine Educators Association Conference

July 20-24, 2003
University of North Carolina-Wilmington

The Mid-Atlantic Marine Education Association (MAMEA) invites you to join us at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington, where we'll be "Taking Marine Education By Storm" July 20-24, 2003. MAMEA is hosting the annual conference of the National Marine Educators Association, a gathering of hundreds of K-12 classroom teachers, university faculty, museum and aquarium educators, and scientists who enjoy teaching about the world of water.

More than 150 concurrent sessions will feature themes such as Climate and Weather, Technology in Ocean Sciences Education, Elementary Education, and Maritime Heritage. Keynote speaker Dr. Steve Lyons from The Weather Channel will describe the challenges facing scientists who predict and track storms. Well-known North Carolina researchers including Dr. Stan Riggs of Eastern Carolina University will provide additional presentations on coastal geology and physical processes.

Visit the NMEA 2003 website www.marine-ed.org/nmea2003 for more information. Conference registration begins in March. Proposals for concurrent sessions are being accepted now through February 1, 2003. Proposal forms may be printed from the website, or you may submit your proposal electronically. Bookmark the site and check it frequently for updates throughout the year. See you in Wilmington!
