Jim has used aquaculture as part of his Science Research and Engineering classes at the Carroll County Career and Tech Center for over ten years. He has been an integral part of the development of the Aquaculture-in-Action program and serves as a master teacher during the workshop.

WAY TO GO JIM!!

Degree: Bachelors & Masters Degree - University of Western Maryland.

Experience: 20 years at Westminster High School and Carroll County Career and Tech Center.

Subjects: Biology, ecology, science research, and engineering.

"Most Memorable" Teaching Experience: Raising ringnecked pheasants as part of a habitat restoration study at the local school wetland and Hashawha Nature Center.

Favorite Class Trips: Taking students to Cunningham Falls State Park in Frederick, MD to study trout streams and perform electrofishing with the help of the Department of Natural Resources.

Awards and Grants: Years of funding from the Chesapeake Bay Trust and WalMart Green Schools Program.

Teaching Techniques: Facilitating independent student research in Science Research curriculum.

Future Plans: The construction and development of a new water garden in the courtyard of the school and planning a major wetland renovation on school grounds.
