Bill Matuszeski
Former Director, EPA Chesapeake Bay Program
Bill Matuszeski was Director of the EPA Chesapeake Bay Program (November 1991 until April 2001), the premier watershed restoration effort in the United States that is recognized world-wide for its comprehensive approach to managing such complex environmental problems as air pollution deposition and land use change. In recognition of his achievements, B.Mat, as everyone calls him, was the 2001 recipient of the Lee Thomas Award, the Environmental Protection Agency's highest honor for distinguished service. B.Mat received his undergraduate degree in government from the University of Wisconsin and his law degree from Harvard with a specialization in land law. He currently serves on the Boards of the Center for Watershed Protection and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, and is Vice President of the Friends of Tyler School, an award-winning tutoring program in the District of Columbia. He also has current consulting contracts with the General Accounting Office and for regional efforts to preserve and restore the Hudson River Valley, New York Harbor and the Sea of Cortez in Mexico. |
