Speaker Biography

Curtis Hutto
Virginia Department of Conservation
and Recreation

Curtis Hutto is currently serving as State Natural Area Steward for the Virginia Division of Natural Heritage. He is responsible for the management of 33 State Natural Area Preserves and has been working for three years on Phragmites control programs throughout Virginia coastal areas. Hutto has a BS degree in forest management from Utah State University and a Ph.D. in forest ecology from Clemson University. The focus of his doctoral research was on the ecological classification of upland communities in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
