Speaker Biography

Steve Capel has been with the Virginia Department of Inland Fisheries since 1989, where he is the Farm Wildlife Supervisor. He has nearly 30 years of experience in habitat restoration and management issues, primarily in the manipulation and restoration of prairies/grasslands, wetlands and early succession habitats. For seven years he was a big game biologist responsible for wild turkey restoration, setting up initial hunting seasons, including research on issues such as behavior and timing. He has an undergraduate degree from Utah State University and an MS from the University of Missouri.
