In June 2000, Maryland Sea Grant sponsored a meeting of scientists to gather their views on research needs for management of the blue crab fishery and to identify key data gaps. This activity was seen as a complement to ongoing efforts of the Bi-State Blue Crab Advisory Committee and as a way to bring researchers with varying backgrounds together for open discussions. The outcome of that meeting is summarized in the report:
