Erica Goldman Erica Goldman has been a science writer for Maryland Sea Grant since 2004. Before that, she worked as a marine policy fellow on Capitol Hill and as a writing intern for Science magazine. She holds a Ph.D. in biology from the University of Washington. For recreation, she loves to spend time outdoors and to travel to far-flung locales with her husband and her toddler daughter Emily.
Jack Greer Jack Greer has been writing about the Chesapeake Bay since he joined Maryland Sea Grant in 1979. He has served as acting Sea Grant director, director of the University of Maryland Coastal and Environmental Policy Program, and director of the Environmental Finance Center. Since 1984 he has headed the Maryland Sea Grant communications effort. He holds a doctorate in the humanities from the University of Maryland and has won awards for short fiction. He and his wife live near the Bay and sail whenever they can, which is not enough.
Michael W. Fincham Michael W. Fincham is a science writer and documentary producer who does not have a Ph.D. in anything. He has done time at the University of Maryland, the University of Iowa, the University of Vienna and UCLA and was a faculty member at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and a night desk clerk at a hotel in Aspen Colorado. He now travels often between Takoma Park and College Park and goes to movies in Bethesda.
Jessica Smits Jessica Smits has been a writer and policy analyst for Maryland Sea Grant since 2006. Before that, she worked at National Geographic Television as a production coordinator and she received her Masters from the University of Washington’s School of Marine Affairs. Jessica lives in downtown Baltimore and enjoys getting out of the city to explore beaches, mountains, and national parks with her husband Kyle.
