Population growth, increasing demands on our resources, and rapidly changing technologies continue to carry us toward an uncertain future.

To stay ahead of the challenges that face us in managing and restoring our watersheds and coastal waters, we need innovative research, broad science literacy, and the best training possible for the next generation of marine scientists, managers, and teachers.

Since 1977, the Maryland Sea Grant College has supported research, education, and outreach focused on Maryland's coastal waters, and especially the Chesapeake Bay.

Maryland Sea Grant plays a special role in supporting researchers and graduate students and in interpreting marine science and policy for a broad audience. Our signature magazine, Chesapeake Quarterly, and our video documentaries are award-winning.
